Gotham Type Specimen Book

Type Specimen Book: Gotham

A typeface with roots in engineering and architecture, Gotham is one of the most popular modern typefaces of the digital age. This type specimen book highlights the uniqueness of the typeface's origin story, creator, and implementations. Inspired by New York City, the city that inspired Gotham, the book features an opening page that mimics an engineer's blueprint, layered text throughout as a nod to the business of New York City, and a clean, no-nonsense layout to reflect the simplicity of the typeface.

Tobias Frere-Jones, the creator of the typeface, described Gotham as "the kind of letter an engineer would make...born outside of type design."  For this reason, the opening pages of the type book are inspired by the engineer's blueprint.
